Dear Editor,
I am writing in support of my dad, Scot Housh, for Edina City Council.
I grew up in Edina and absolutely loved it. My three brothers and I were lucky to have great schools, youth sports, wonderful neighborhoods, and a community that felt like home.
My dad previously served on the Edina City Council from 2001–2011, and I had a front-row seat to the time and energy he dedicated to the community. I’ve watched my dad take his responsibility to this community seriously, both when he served on the council and in the years since. Anyone who knows my dad knows that he doesn’t take leadership lightly. He is someone who listens, asks questions, and takes the time to understand different perspectives before making a decision.
Last year, my husband and I chose to move back to Edina. We returned because of the experience I had growing up here, but also because we believe in this community and the future we can build here. The neighborhoods, schools, and people are truly special.
I know how much my dad values the things that make Edina special, while also understanding that the city will continue to grow and change. He is thoughtful about how the city spends money and understands that taxpayer dollars should be treated with care. He will also be committed to keeping Edina a safe place to raise a family, with a focus on public safety in our parks and public spaces. I know he will approach the future of Edina with the same thoughtfulness and care that he has brought to everything else in his life.
I’ve had the unique opportunity to watch him lead not only as a council member, but as my dad. He has been a role model and mentor to me since I was a kid, and I’m proud to support him in returning to the City Council.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting Scot Housh for Edina City Council on November 3.
